The Secrets We Hide by Becca Steele
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Eeny, meeny, miny, mo.
I’ve got a secret you don’t know.
Caiden Cavendish is under my skin. The Four have switched from being my enemies to my closest friends.
But not everything has changed. Two truths remain...my life is still in danger, and my mother is hiding something.
So many questions, and no answers.
What secrets lie buried in Alstone?
The lies, the secrets, they’ll come undone.
I'm the monster you can't outrun.
Note - this book is not a standalone, and should be read after The Lies We Tell.
5 Only You Stars
The Secrets We Hide is the second book in The Four series. It CANNOT be read as a standalone. Book one ends on a massive cliffhanger and this book picks up right where we left off. Winter is in danger and the boys are trying to save her.
What a crazy roller coaster ride this book was. The constant action and need for answers had me reading late into the night and finishing in one sitting. Mystery surrounding the death of Winter's father cause questions to arise regarding her mother and what, if any, role she played in his death. With more clues dropped as the plot advances, we learn that not everyone is who they seem. Who can we trust and who is out for blood?
While very much a plot driven story, there was a great deal of character development that went on too. Cade, West, and even Winter have tried and succeeded in establishing more of a relationship with Arlo, Cade and West's father, and created a more familial bond. Winter's relationships with each of the boys has also developed into a familiar level of comfort and trust. It's her relationship with Cade that stole the show, though. Cade had some issues to work out and it was a struggle for both of them. Trust plays a huge role in their relationship and it was tested many times throughout the story. Despite that, their intense chemistry was always jumping off the pages and making you feel as if someone just turned up the heat. These two are the IT couple and everyone knows it.
I 100% loved this book. The mystery and suspense took center stage and held me captive from the first page to that damn cliffhanger on the last page. Captivating and spellbinding, this book is a must read for romance and suspense lovers alike.

4.5 Diamonds Don't Break Stars
Falcon's Prey is my first book by C. Lymari and from what I understand, it's her first venture into dark romance. That being said, she's got herself a new fan right here. Ren and Ember had me captivated from the start and I couldn't wait to see where their story would go.
Ember Remington is a diamond heiress with an exterior as cold as ice and as hard as the diamonds her family is known for. She puts on a show for the world but underneath it all, she is a broken soul. All the money and fame in the world hasn't given her the one thing she truly wants, which is the love and affection of another person.
"Ember Remington was beauty wrapped in sadness and sealed with hatred."
Ren Falcon is the quintessential anti-hero. He's done horrible things in his life and there's no shame about it. He relishes in the malevolence of it all. When he's hired on as Ember's bodyguard he refuses to bow down to her. He's there to do a job and get out. He wasn't expecting to see beneath the surface of Ember's tough exterior though.
Ember and Ren were absolute fire together. The angst between them damn near set my kindle on fire and had me on the edge of my seat just waiting for that moment to happen. Their chemistry jumped off the pages. It was like their souls were connected, a perfect combination of light and dark, good and bad.
“We were a couple forged in hell, and in each other we found paradise.”
While the relationship progression was more of an angst filled, slow burn, the plot was fast paced and action packed. I was trying to figure everything out as it went but I couldn't. There was definitely some surprises thrown in that I didn't see coming. I was left with a few minor questions and thought some plot points could've been more detailed which is why I rated a 4.5 instead of 5 stars.
Overall I really enjoyed Ren and Ember's story and I appreciated their growth throughout. If you're a fan of dark romance, suspense, mystery, and characters with hilarious banter, Falcon's Prey is for you.

The Saint by Kelsey Clayton review
The Saint by Kelsey Clayton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
She's heaven sent but together we're going to burn in hell."
The Saint is the second book in Kelsey Clayton's Haven Grace Prep series and is the story of Knox and Delaney. This series has captured my heart and Clayton is quickly moving up my list of top authors with each new release. Knox and Delaney bring new meaning to the term opposites attract and it makes for an addictive page turner. This is high school drama. rivalry, and angst at it's best.
Knox is the resident bad boy. He's gorgeous. Dangerous. A football star. Wanted by everyone and tamed by none. The complete opposite of Delaney. He thinks he's no good for her and knows he should stay away, but there's something there in her eyes when he talks to her. A little spark of mischief. An undeniable connection that near can deny.
Delaney is a rich girl from Haven Prep on her way to being valedictorian. She's sweet and innocent but also wants just a bit of excitement in her life and Knox brings that in spades. She's tired of doing what is expected and jumps in head first to explore the butterflies she gets in her stomach every time Knox is around.
These two together are absolute perfection and what a pleasant surprise they both were. Their character development was amazing. Delaney had this quiet strength about her. She was tough as nails when faced with bias towards Knox yet still so sweet and loving. She went after what she wanted despite it all. Knowing that Knox felt so deeply yet tried so hard to hide it and push Delaney away was upsetting, so seeing him come to accept his feelings and act on them was a beautiful thing. Knox being in the situation he was in, showed just how big his heart was all along.
This opposites attract, romantic suspense is an absolute must read. It was full of surprises and kept me eagerly turning the pages. Kelsey Clayton has a way with words and I felt all of them in The Saint in my soul. This book surpassed all of my expectations. It broke my heart and put it back together.

"You have glass hearts. All four of you. It's just a matter of time before someone comes along and exposes the cracks."
A solid 5 stars!!! I read a lot of bully romance.... to be honest, it's my crack. It's hard to find a book in this genre that stands out amongst the rest but Glass Heart Savage did just that. It is definitely something new and refreshing in the bully genre and unlike anything i've read so far. I've enjoyed Lindsey's previous works but they are on the sweeter, angstier side of romance. Lindsey Iler stepped outside the box of her normal genre with GHS and I really feel that this decision will put her on the map. This is the book that is going to make her career as an author soar.
Iler has created a world of darkness and depravity that will keep you on your toes guessing what will happen next. The whole setting, from the glass house at the top of the hill, to the weekend party, to the Halloween celebration, was fascinating to me. I could perfectly visualize everything as I read along. The writing was so detailed and descriptive I could close my eyes and imagine myself right there at Glass Heart Academy.
There are four anti heroes for you to love to hate and hate to love in GHS. Breaker.. I loved him from the get-go. Bryon... he is the darkest and most brutal one of all. Im not sure yet if he's worthy of redemption but I know his actions were driven by love and loss. Dixon, he's probably the second darkest of the four. He does show some remorse so I think he's capable of love. Im curious to see if he will get a story. Then there's Marek, the hero of GHS. Let me tell you about my boy. He has a darkness inside him that just loves to come out an play. More often that not his actions are questionable, and I found myself questioning my own morals for analyzing and justifying his behavior. He walked a fine line, though by the end of the story I know his heart was in the right place. He showed tremendous growth and it was hard not to root for him.
"Don't let me in, Palmer. You're going to want to, I can promise you that, but all i'll end up doing is hurting you."
Now Palmer, she is a force to be reckoned with. The epitome of strength and resilience when faced with the loss of her sister, the neglect of her parents, and the unsolicited attention from the glass heart boys. She's also sassy which I loved because she had no problem putting the boys in place. She's mostly reserved, but she too has a wild side that likes to come out and play. She was as ruthless mentally and sexually with the boys as the boys were physical with her. The fiery passion between Palmer and Marek is explosive. I thought my kindle was going to melt a few times.
The plot was fast paced, action packed, and engaging from the first page to the very last word. The mystery of what happened to Palmer's sister Reed, and what's going on at campus will keep you guessing right to the end. I have so many questions and theories. There are twists and turns, secrets and lies galore. But the biggest revelation comes on the last page where we're left hanging by a thread. I've said it once and i'll say it one hundred more times...Lindsey Iler was made to write dark romance. This book is gold and I can't recommend it enough.

Rebellion by Siobhan Davis Review
Rebellion by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Rebellion is the thrilling, captivating second installment of The Sainthood- Boys of Lowell High by Siobhan Davis and it picks up right where Resurrection left us on that doozy of a cliffhanger. Be prepared because if you thought that cliffy was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. Buckle up because things are about to get crazy. This book is a roller coaster ride of epic proportions and I didn't want to get off. I devoured this book in one sitting.
Siobhan continues to blow me away with her ability to create such an intricate, complex plot line that had me completely captivated and trying to figure out the who, what, and why and hows from cover to cover. Gang rivalry. Murder. Arson. Revelations. Rebellion is action packed from page one and and had me turning pages much faster than I would've liked. I wanted to read slow and savor each word by my need for answers won. There is so much going on in this installment and while you do get answers, in true Siobhan fashion, you ultimately will be left with more questions.
Aside from the plot progression, Rebellion was very much a character driven story. Character development played a huge role in this installment. Lo is as badass as ever. She is one of my favorite heroines to date. As for the guys, we get a deeper look into what drives them. Their past relationships with Lo are brought to light and offer some explanation on how they got where they are now. We are also given some insight into the home lives of the boys which also explains a lot of what drives them to do what they do. We see each of their relationship with Lo progress individually , as well as the group dynamic progressing. This book is straight FIRE!!!! I'm claiming Saint for myself. ;)
Rebellion hit all the marks for me. It's captivating, suspenseful, sexy, and addicting. I cannot wait to see how Davis ends this already epic trilogy. Bring on Reign!!!

Always Enough by Kelly Elliott review
The second novel in New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott’s Meet Me in Montana series turns up the emotion with a story about finding true love and healing broken hearts.
Grieving the loss of her fiancΓ© two years ago, Kaylee longs for a fresh start. When she follows her best friend from Atlanta to Hamilton, Montana, Kaylee looks forward to the wild terrain and a new town to help her forget the memories and dreams of a life that will never be hers.

Always Enough is the second book in Kelly Elliott’s Meet Me In Montana series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading Never Enough first because it will provide you with some backstory and insight to other characters in this book.
Elliott is queen of small town, cowboy romance and she certainly delivers in this emotionally charged , slow burn romance with all the feels. Ty and Kaylee have both been through and survived some tragic times in their lives. Where Kaylee has done her grieving and is ready to move on, Ty is letting his past and his need to shut everyone out control his future. Despite their instant attraction, Ty continually pushes Kaylee away.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the emotional charge Always Enough carried. Mrs Elliott covered some pretty heavy, sensitive subplots with care and grace, that left me with tears in my eyes. This story took tragedy and turned it into hope. Two broken people who heal and find happiness and love in one another while keeping the theme of strong family presence throughout.
Always Enough is a heartbreakingly beautiful journey wrapped up in angst, constant push and pull, witty banter, and some melt your kindle intimacy. Elliott has an uncanny ability to suck you into her world and make you feel like you’re right there with your friends and I can’t wait to be back in Montana to see Tanner and Dirk fall for their woman.
