He Hates Me Not by Rina Kent

Blurb:
Once upon a time, there was a girl.
She hid secrets and scars behind a blinding smile.
Until I decided to confiscate that smile, watch it, trap it, own it.
She calls it an obsession, a madness, but she’s seen nothing.
The moment I noticed her, her fate was sealed.
Then she became a key player in my unhinged game.
Once upon a time, there was a girl, a liar, a fraud. Mine.

This is book is a dark stalker romance and contains dubious scenes.

He Hates Me Not is the second part of a duet and is NOT a standalone.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

He Hates Me Not is the thrilling conclusion to the dark and twisted stalker/mafia/forbidden romance. From the beginning, I was fascinated with Jasper’s obsession with Petal and it continued just as strong in the conclusion.

He Hates Me left us with a crazy cliffhanger and a revelation that left me head spinning. Knowing who Jasper and Petal were, I couldn’t wait to see how this would play out. This part of the duet is definitely more focused on the plot and not so much on their relationship. Love is definitely starting to develop between them but will it thrive when there’s so many factors separating them?

Sadly, I think this story was a bit rushed and lacked the depth and intensity that we experienced in the first part of the duet. It wasn’t very long so I think it could’ve been written as one book. There was more mafia subplot in this installment and while engaging, it didn’t hold my attention the way Jasper’s fascination with Petal did.

Overall, I was happy with the way this story ended. The last few chapters are what really made this book for me. I loved Jasper’s struggle with his feelings and watching him soften for Petal. And the cats tooπŸ˜‚. If you’re a fan of captive/stalker romance then you should definitely give this duet a shot.

5 Apple Throwing Stars

I have to be honest and say I held off on reading this book because I thought it was PNR. It kept showing up in my newsfeed, I loved the cover, and people were raving about it so I finally asked around and found out it wasn’t. That was all I needed to hear to dive in and let me tell you, I am SO MAD that I waited so long to read it.

I loved everything about this book, especially Saint and Mal. He’s king of the school and she’s a scholarship student looking to hide from her past. I love his dark sinister side and her fiery side. I love the mystery surrounding Mal’s secrets. Their chemistry is explosive. The push and pull is so constant and intense.

Once I started, I couldn’t put this book down. I cannot wait to jump into book 2, Malice.

4 Little Masochist Stars

Malice picks up right where Saint left off, after the horrific fire at the Angelle House on campus. With fingers being pointed at Mal, she concedes to Saint’s demands and leaves school to go back to Georgia. After some time off and an unexpected visit, Mallory once again shows her backbone and returns to campus for the spring semester.

The bullying is worse this time around, with the deaths of classmates being blamed on her. Saint comes to her rescue, further confusing everyone, including Mal. There was a lot of back and forth with Saint and Mal which became aggravating at times. One minute he wants her and the next he’s pushing her away. The girl is tough as nails for everything else, but weak in the knees when it comes to Saint. Not that i cna blame her ;)

This book was very much plot driven with lots of surprises and revelations. I was completely consumed by this story of redemption and revenge. Mal’s “mom” has a larger presence in the story which adds to the mystery and suspense factor. I am shocked at the reveal in the final chapter and it has me questioning key players at the academy too. I need book 3 ASAP.

LA Cotton just delivered my favorite book of hers with Prince of Hearts. A new adult, mafia, forbidden college romance, tale of star crossed lovers that left my heart pounding.

Nico and Ari had an instant connection that was undeniable. A written in the stars, epic, once in a lifetime kind of love. I fell in love with them just as quick as they fell in love with each other and it made for such a sweet, swoon worthy story. An odd thing to say about a mafia romance, right? But that’s one of the things I loved most about the book. Nico is the mafia leader when he needs to be but when it comes to Ari, he is soft and sweet. His struggles with his feeling for Ari vs the type of person he thought himself to be are heartbreaking.

”I couldn’t be the prince she deserved, because my life wasn’t a fairytale. It was the stuff nightmares were made of.”

I adore Ari’s strength and determination to win her independence from her father, who I want to punch in the face, by the way. I enjoyed watching how her naivety regarding her fathers business turned into knowledge and power.

As if the fantastic characters with their undying love isn’t enough, you have a suspenseful and secretive plot that slowly unravels, keeping you completely consumed. I was always on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next. With two rival mafia families and secrets galore, there was never a moment that I wasn’t completely engaged in this story.

This book gets all the stars. I can’t recommend it enough. A fantastic start to a riveting new series from LA Cotton, this a book that romance lovers alike will not want to miss.
