STAY FOR ME by Megan Smith blog tour with giveaway

SYNOPSIS:

Eli Sabatino, determined to make a name for himself amid Seaside, New Jersey’s nightlife, has laid out the perfect plan for success. But that plan didn’t include Layla, the hopeful bartender who walked in for an interview. He knows, as an employee, this blonde bombshell is off-limits but he can’t fight the undeniable force of attraction that pulls him toward her.

Layla Del Duca has the weight of the world on her shoulders. With a full course load, a boyfriend, a sister to take care of, and an alcoholic mother, she needs to regain control of her life. Her job at Fierce is priority number one. But a complication she didn’t expect looms behind the eyes of Eli, her handsome new boss.

Emotions collide full force and they can no longer turn a blind eye to what their hearts are telling them.

But, can their passion survive when Eli can no longer promise the one thing Layla asks of him? Will everything change? Will he stay?

EXCERPT:

Layla smiles. “It’s nice to see them back together.”
“It is, makes my life a hell of a lot easier.”
“Why’s that?”
I glance over at her. Her eyes are glassy, cheeks are flushed but she’s relaxed and it’s not a sight I get to see often. “One less thing for me to watch over.”
Layla who was sitting across from me on the booth that’s out on the deck lies down, crosses her ankles and places her hands on her stomach.
I laugh. “What are you doing?”
She points up to the sky. “Looking at all the stars.”
I toss back the rest of my beer and follow suit lying down where we are head to head. Neither of us talks for what seems like forever. It’s not an awkward silence but a comfortable one.
“Tell me something about yourself that no one knows, Layla.”
She’s quiet and I almost think she’s fallen asleep when she starts, “I’ve always wanted a tree house.”
“A tree house?” I ask just to confirm I’ve heard her. It’s so random.
“Yeah, and not one that’s on the ground, I wanted a real tree house high up in the trees.” She sighs. “When I was little I used to watch from my bedroom window while the dad from the house behind ours built the Foster sister’s one. For two weeks he worked on it for them.” She turns on her stomach and rests her chin on her hands. “He put it way up high, nailed pieces of wood on the tree for steps. He brought up these big pieces of wood that he used for the floor. Then a few days later the house was framed out. He even made them a little porch that he put railing around. By the end of the second weekend I saw him hoisting up a huge triangle piece that he used for the roof. Mr. and Mrs. Foster brought the girls up so that they could see it. The looks on their faces was priceless.”
I turn around and face Layla on the bench. Her eyes are even glassier now than they were before.
“They painted the little house that was big enough for the four of them to sit in. Mrs. Foster made them little curtains for the windows and planted little flowers in the flower boxes that hung off of the railing of the porch.” Her smile grows. “I watched the little girls bring their baby dolls up in a little box that they would pull up, like their dad used for the roof. Mrs. Foster even made them a picnic basket at dinner time, too.”
A little tear escapes the corner of her eye and I watch as it runs down her cheek. She doesn’t even bother trying to wipe it away. Being this close I notice the freckles sprinkled across her nose and I suddenly want to kiss each and every one of them.
“Layla?”
“Hmm,” she mummers.
“I’m sorry you never got your tree house.”
She smiles a sad smile. “Me too.”

It sounds like Layla didn’t have a great childhood, maybe she didn’t have a dad like me or maybe she did and he just couldn’t be bothered with her. I don’t want to ask because it’s a personal question and Layla doesn’t give away much about her life. So for now I’ll take what she’s willing to give me and vow that if I ever have a little girl, I will build with my own two hands the best damn tree house ever seen.

Review:

Megan Smith surely knows how to tug at your heart. WOW! Stay With Me was such a good story, I devoured it in one day. I wasn't sure if I wanted to scream, cry or yell, considering I finished reading at 3am and my husband would have thought I was crazy, however I did a little of all three, quietly, with my pillow over my face. That's how emotionally charged I was after reading this book.

Just like the MacKenzie guys, Eli Sabatino was HOTTTTT and he definitely did not disappoint. His character was almost perfect with his flaws. I fell deeply in love with him =)

My heart truly went out to Layla and her POS exboyfriend needed a good swift punch in the junk. However when her and Eli first got together, I knew their connection would be strong. Eli's personality fit perfectly for Layla. I was so glad when she dove right in, needing more of Eli.

Meeting at a hard time in Layla's life, Eli walks into the picture and has a strong pull to help her in life. Of course, being the strong girl that she was, Layla tried as much as she could to fight the urge of Eli off, but it didn't last very long.

The story was almost perfect, BUT.... Just like Megan Smith's style, she messes with us at the very end. I hate spoilers and won't give them away, however the only warning I have is to grab your tissues the last half of the book. You'll definitely need them, I promise.

Great job Megan. I can't wait to ready more of your work!
Well deserved FIVE STARS!!!!!

Love Surfaced by Michelle Lynn Release Launch with giveaway

The equations are simple.

Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings
Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends
Piper Ashby + Tanner McCain = Off limits

Tanner and I abided by the rules. We stayed on our designated sides of the relationship circle.

Ignoring swarming butterflies.
Brushing off skipped heartbeats.
Settling on lingering stares.

Here’s the secret … a hand extended over that invisible line once, exponentially changing the equation. I was convinced we could make our relationship work until Tanner broke the trust he embedded in me from the age of seven.

One deceit of mega proportions and the relationship we built for that short month vanished. I swore never to speak to him again and it’s worked. Until now—two years later, when my brother’s wedding places me face-to-face with the best man—Tanner McCain.

Leaving one equation to be solved. Can love surface twice?

“Piper.” He hesitates before joining me on the cement stoop.
I question why he even searched me out even though it’s been his MO lately, popping up wherever I am.
He places his arm across my shoulders and pulls me into him, which only brings a ripple of warmth to the pit of my stomach. “Come here.”
My head burrows into his strong chest, and his hand soothingly roams up and down my back. I sink into him. With the comfort of his arm, the tension in my shoulders from placing fifth in my swim meet slowly releases.
Refusing to let him make my mind race with his confusing affection, I sit up. Swiping the tears from my eyes, I honestly confess, “Tanner, it was my last shot.”
He begins to shake his head, but I stop him, “No, I have to realize it. My dream of swimming in the Olympics is over.” I rise to my feet, and the heaviness in my chest sinks back into place now that I’m out of his embrace.
He follows me over to the oak tree. Coming up behind me, his hot breath tickles my neck. My pulse races into overdrive, reminding me of how badly I want him.
Why does he keep leading me on?
He continues to toe the line between friendship and more, but he never actually steps over it. Each time his hand brushes mine or his eyes search me out, my heart stops beating for a moment as I hope this is it—until he crushes the fluttering butterflies and steps away.
I close my eyes from the view of Michigan University’s football stadium because I need to calm my insides. “Why are you here?”
He should be with my twin brother, preparing for their own meet.
“You should be in warm-ups.”
His hands land on my shoulders, and he leans down. At our connection, a tingle spreads through my body.
“I saw you leaving the pool house.” His voice cracks.
I hear his deep intake of breath.
“That’s not what I’m asking, Tanner.”
When I turn around, I almost collapse when I come face-to-face with this gorgeous guy. He’s absolutely one hundred percent the perfect male.
My perfect male.
His brown hair is tucked away in his MU hat that’s flipped backward. His lips and cheeks are rosy from the early spring chill in the air. With only a sweatshirt and track pants on, he’s the epitome of a college student. His good looks remind me of the unbearable yearning that pulls me toward him.
His eyes are so transparent that I can see the torment of his inner turmoil from our situation, meaning nothing has changed for him. He’s as conflicted as ever because I’m his best friend’s sister.
“I don’t know.” His voice is soft, caressed with the sweetness he’s shown me the last few months.
My stomach drops at his words. I want to grab his face with my hands and beg him to admit that the small seed of attraction has grown over the years and we can no longer dodge around it.
Instead, I stand there, with my hands at my sides, silently pining for the day he acknowledges our desire for one another.

“Then, that’s a problem.” My heart thumps as I sidestep him and weave through the sporadic clumps of snow that have yet to melt from the harsh winter.

Ugly Love - Colleen Hoover

colleen hoover.jpg

image1[1].JPG

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

image3[1].JPG

Our D.E.A.R. author has done it again! This book is perfection.

Another amazing book by Colleen Hoover, once we got stuck into this book we couldn't put it down. Colleen has an amazing ability to pull you in so much you feel like you are there with these characters, like you're apart of their relationship.

Love is passionate, intense, steamy, sultry and sometimes so heavy it makes you reach deep into your soul when you have this intensity with someone. But in some cases while love is simple and beautiful other times it's ugly. Only the toughest and those who can see past the imperfections will find true love.

Hearts get infiltrated
Promises get broken
Rules get shattered
Love gets ugly

We were both hooked from the beginning, these characters were so easy to connect with, you could feel the chemistry radiating from them in the few times they had crossed paths. This book will pull at your heart strings in more ways than one. We weren't sure what to expect but we didn't expect to have our hearts shattered. This book is heavy and emotional.

Tate has just moved in with her brother until she can find an apartment of her own, she wasn't expecting to meet a man like Miles. And meeting him in the hallway, passed out in front of her brothers apartment wasn't what she expected. Miles is good friends with her brother, both who are co-pilots. Miles is different he is very closed off, and different to most men but there is something about him that intrigues her.

Miles and Tate attempt to develop a friendship but it is hard when he is so closed off. It isn't easy for Tate, you can feel the sadness and emptiness radiating from him. This just fuels Tate to get to know him more, slowly she starts making progress with him.

Miles might not show it but he really likes Tate, the attraction and chemistry is there. The last thing Miles is looking for is love or commitment, they are two rules he will not break. The chemistry is so strong they try a 'friends with benefits' relationship with 2 rules.

"Don't ask about my past" he says firmly. "And never expect a future."

Tate is smitten with Miles, as much as she would love to have more with him she will take him any way she can get him. He has evoked something within her, she's never felt so strongly for anyone before.

"He's just invading my thoughts and my stomach and my lungs and my world."

We love the way this book has been written. Dual point of view, going between Tate's POV in the present and Miles POV in the past. Going back and forth, the suspense and the build up at the end of each chapter will keep you on the edge of your seat.

"Sometimes a man's spirit just ain't strong enough to withstand the ghosts from his past."

Miles is the way he is for a good reason and in Miles past POV we get to see why. Miles doesn't have the rules in place because he's an ass, they are there for a good reason, he needs to protect his heart. When you have been hurt in the worst way possible it's hard to let anyone else in again. Why put your heart through the pain and ugliness of love again? Regardless of how beautiful it can be when you are truly in love with someone.

"You make it so hard to breathe"

Tate can't stop herself from developing the strong feelings she has for Miles and Miles is struggling with the feelings he has for Tate but he can't go there again. Even though she knows her feelings won't be reciprocated it doesn't stop Tate going after what she wants.

"If I were capable of loving someone... it would be you." My heart cracks with his words, and I feel the hope seep in and leak right back out again.

Our Thoughts

Kristy - Miles is such a beautiful character, his past just broke my heart. Seeing what he was like in the past to what he became in the present was heart breaking but what he's been through would change anyone. This book is heart wrenching, emotional yet beautiful. Have the tissues, vodka and chocolate ready because Colleen is going to rip your heart out and put it through a meat grinder! I absolutely LOVED this book.

Kayla - I found myself getting so frustrated at times reading this book. I felt like Colleen would give us just enough in the past chapters and then leave us hanging. I wanted so much more from the past but at the same time I craved to see where Miles and Tate’s relationship was going to go. This book brought out all the feels.

It's books like these that make us glad that we buddy read. There were so many times I (Kristy) messaged Kayla telling her I was going to skip present chapters and read more of Miles past chapters but as always Kayla kept telling me NOT TO DO IT.

We can't wait to see what Colleen delivers in her next book November 9.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. ~

Newton’s Third Law of Motion

Brandon “Brand” Carmichael’s life was the stuff dreams were made of…too bad it was an illusion. As a guitarist for Inert Motion, Brandon traveled the world, performing with his brothers in all but blood. He never stopped moving all the while his mind played in a never ending loop. Now outside influences have changed the band’s course, leaving Brand’s life void of the balance he craved. Once again, his dream had become a recurring nightmare. Brand coped the only way he knew how; retreat into solitude.

Magdalena “Layna” Delacroix had achieved the long sought goal of her Ph.D. in Psychology, but success came at a high cost: over one hundred thousand dollars in debt. After being presented with the opportunity to fulfill her desire to help someone in the aftermath of tragedy, along with earning enough money to clear her debt and start a psychology practice of her own, Layna had to balance the means against the outcome. Could she be the force to stop the downward spiral of someone who refused to seek help?

Neither Brand nor Layna expected the reaction they had to one another. It was the opposite of everything they sought.

Could Layna live a lie while pushing Brand to live in the truth?

Would Brand forgive her for committing one unforgivable sin?

Or was he branded by destiny to be...

excerpt

Prologue
August
(Micah)

I faced Brand’s parents. The guilt of knowing I’d failed my best friend resting heavily upon my shoulders. There was nowhere else to turn. Brand had steadily declined over the last tour. None of the other guys in the band could figure out what was going on with him either. The more we tried to include him, the more Brandon withdrew; the more he withdrew, the more erratic he became. It seemed the only time he functioned was when we were on stage.

Rubbing my hand over my head, I confessed, “We just don’t know what else to do. We thought it was drugs or booze, but we could never catch him doing it or find it hidden anywhere. Then we thought maybe he was going through groupies”—I grimaced at the thought of talking to my friend’s parents about their son’s sex life—“even though that had never been his thing before, but he wasn’t taking anybody back to his room and he wasn’t going out. He’s not eating or working out. He’s lost weight.” I sighed and looked down, focusing on the pattern in the rug. “With the tour ending and him going home by himself, we’re worried.” Looking up, I met their concerned gazes. “And in spite of feeling like I’m narcing on my friend, I’m here because he needs help and I don’t know where else to turn or what else to do.”

Peter and Sarah exchanged a knowing glance before turning their eyes back to me. As her husband squeezed her hand, Sarah asked, “When did you start to notice Brandon’s behavior changing?”

I shook my head and said, “That’s just it, it was like BAM—all of a sudden he just wasn’t the same. Then Danelle pointed out that he started acting like an ass to her when she and Ty started to get serious, and he’s gotten worse as the rest of us have settled down with girlfriends and wives and stuff.

“It doesn’t make any sense. He always got along with Danelle when she was our publicist, so I don’t get why he would suddenly be a jerk…” I trailed off as I thought back over the past couple of years.

Sarah’s worried gaze found her husband’s once again, and he swallowed and nodded his consent. It was time.
Meet the Author

One day some words came to mind, so I wrote them down. Soon the words became sentences, which formed paragraphs, which, in turn, formed chapters. Before long, those words had become a book.

When I'm not reading or writing, I'm a wife, mother, and business owner. I've lived on the Gulf, East, and West Coasts, but as a born and raised Southern girl, my favorite will always be the Gulf Coast. There's just no place like home...
