Rellik By Teresa Mummert review

Rellik Bentley is to die for.

He can have any woman he wants and they will do anything to be with him. He uses and abuses them like drugs and tosses them out with the trash. The only thing he gives a f*ck about is his music. That is, until Ella Leighton walks into his life and stumbles upon one of his darkest secrets. In the midst of doing damage control, he begins to obsess over the mysterious woman who wants absolutely nothing to do with him.
Rellik won’t take no for an answer.

Full length (stand-alone) novel with bonus sample of Pretty Little Things.

First the cover and then the synopsis drew us both in and we couldn't wait to get started on Rellik. We were not prepared at all for the ride that this book took us on. The twists in this book were phenomenal so many times things we never imagined were happening. This book was so original it truly blew us away.

“Even with a busted lip, he was fucking beautiful, like a cracked marble statue of a greek god.”

Ryder Bentley, better know in his band as Rellik, is broken. His monsters and demons are consuming him and revenge is all he sees. His darkness is all he needs, he can’t be saved, he doesn’t want to be saved, he is too far gone. His past holds secrets that no one knows but one girl could change all of that.

Mikaella Leighton, or Ella as she is known by has her own demons, secrets that have consumed her life have left her with nothing, no one. Running from a tainted past that continues to haunt her, she has questions she need answers. Discovering the answers she desperately needs could be more trouble than it's worth. (She’s alone and searching high and low to fit the pieces of her past together. She wants to know what happened to her mother, she wants to know what her father is hiding.)

“The unease began to spread. Panic settled deep in a knot in my belly and slowly spidered through my veins like poison. I began to count, whispering rapidly under my breath.”

The relationship that Ella and Rellik have is unusual and in the beginning it's so wrong that it's right. It works, they have a common bond but are both holding things back. They have one goal and that is revenge!
We can’t say much more without giving away the book. It was gritty, a tangled web of lies and truths that haven't been told. Can they work together to get over their pasts? or will the secrets they hold stop them from realising what each other holds?

Rellik is one of those books that will leave you with a book hangover, when you think you have the plot figured out the twists will take you by surprise. Teresa Mummert kicked ass with this book.

I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France were I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us hear today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story.
