Midsummer Sweetheart by Katy Regnery Blog tour with review and giveaway

BLURB:
During the annual Montana festival of Midsommardagen, a law enforcement official must protect a beautiful nurse from her past, thereby breaking his own vow to never risk his heart.

SYNOPSIS:
Erik Lindstrom never had much faith in love. He saw his parents’ marriage collapse and vowed to avoid the same anguish himself. His fiercely protective nature drew him to a career in law enforcement, where he’s managed to keep himself and his heart safe…until now.

Katrin Svenson is in danger. After leaving her home in secret, her only hope for safety seems to lie in the hands of a man who has steeled himself against her deep blue eyes and sunny smile. But sparks fly between the nurse and her handsome protector, and those sparks become fire as Katrin melts the ice surrounding Erik’s heart. That fire will ward off the dark force determined to keep their sweet midsummer nights from being an impossibly perfect forever.

Midsummer Sweetheart
Book 2, Heart of Montana series
Katy Regnery
This is my first book from Katy Regnery, and it was everything I wanted it to be. The journey this book takes you on is beautifully written and so descriptive, I many times imagined myself right there.  I love books written from dual point of views, getting to understand and see things from both perspectives.
Katrin Svenson has been in an abusive relationship for years, her ex fiancĂ© Wade Doyle, is an alcoholic whose addiction is taking him on a downward spiral. Through the years his abuse towards Katrin escalates. Wade even being too drunk to show up to his wedding! Katrin decides it’s over; she ends her relationship with Wade. Katrin thought she had seen the worst in Wade, unfortunately she hadn’t.  After threatening to kill katrin, she turns to family for support.
Her best friend, Ingrid and brother Kristian help Katrin leave her hometown with the help of a family relative and friend Erik Lindstrom. Both are leaving their home town, her to escape from her ex and start a new nursing job, him to start his new job in law enforcement.
Erik is known for his play boy ways, never one to settle down or have a girlfriend. Just thinking of settling down brings on panic attacks for Eric. Katrin on the other hand is a much more conservative with relationships, Wade had been her only boyfriend. Katrina finds herself intrigued with Erik...
Whilst on their drive to their new hometowns, Erik realises that spending time with Katrin doesn’t seem too bad at all.
He wants to be her rebound fling, she wants nothing more than friendship with Erik, or at least she thinks she does.
The banter between these characters is fun, sexy and playful.
This is a beautiful story of friendship and love.  The emotion you feel while reading this book brought tears to my eyes and many times had me laughing and smiling.
I can’t wait to see what the next book in the Heart of Montana series holds.
This book can be read as a standalone.

Katy lives in the relative-wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all can often be the messy or unexpected ones. Her Paranormal It's You is scheduled for a Winter 2014 release.
