BLURB:

Ignazio Vitale is not a good man.

I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I'm thinking before I even do.

It's alarming and alluring. It's dark and deadly. It's everything I've ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession.

It doesn't take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it's too late. He has secrets, secrets I can't fathom, secrets that make it so I can't walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that's both terrifying and thrilling. He's a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything.

I want to hate him.

Sometimes, I do.

But it doesn't stop me from loving him, too.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This book is intended for a mature audience only, due to some dark and erotic content.

My Review: 5 ++Stars

Wow!! Just wow. Another home run for JM Darhower. I am huge fan of the Sempre series so you can imagine my excitement when i found out that Darhower was releasing a new book...this month! Monster In His Eyes is book 1 in a romantic suspense duology, with book 2 expected to be released fall 2014.

Monster In His Eyes is a dark and gritty, yet captivating read that will have readers engrossed until the very end. It is an intense,raw, thrilling tale of obsession, love, lies, and secrets.Karissa Reed is an 18 year old student surviving on a diet of Ramen noodles, depending on her scholarship to get her through college. She longs for stability, having moved around her whole life with her seemingly paranoid mother. She has one friend, her roommate Melody, and her biggest concern is maintaining a 3.5 GPA so that she can keep her scholarship. That is until she walks into Ignazio "Naz" Vitale....twice. And in a city as big as New York what are the odds of two strangers colliding more than once?

Naz is a man that demands attention. He is brooding and all alpha and sexy as hell. But he also has an air of mystery surrounding him, giving off dangerous vibes. He is 36 years old; twice the age of Karissa. At first i was taken back by this a little bit and was wondering how this would play out, but when these two got together the age difference went right out the window for me. Karissa went toe to toe with Naz and her actions and personality were rather mature for her age. The sex scenes with these two were intense and erotic, but also dark.

"The city is a dangerous place, my mother told me. There are people who will pray upon me, who will corrupt me, who will use and abuse me. I have to be careful, I have to be on guard, alert and always keeping my eyes open to the dangers of world, because they're real and they'll destroy me. I heard it over and over. So many times. Who would've expected i'd fall in blindly with the most dangerous of all."

I dont want to say to much about this story for fear of giving anything away. There were some shocking twists and turned that just need to be experienced by the reader. This is a story that will have you wound up and ignoring life around you until the last page is turned. I loved the mystery and the suspense. I certainly didn't see the end coming. I think the biggest shock for me though came at the last page. OMG. No, there is no cliffhanger but it is certainly set up for what will sure to be a very entertaining book 2. So until then, i will be rereading Monster in His Eyes and not so patiently waiting for Torture In Her Soul.

"I fell in love with him, and that’s what destroyed me in the end.He says he would never hurt me, but he doesn’t realize he already has.He hurt me by loving me.By being who he is. Because I am who I am.”
