ONLY PRETEND by Nora Flite review

Title: Only Pretend
Author: Nora Flite
Genre: Dark erotica/romance
Release date: June 2, 2014

SYNOPSIS
From USA Today Bestselling Author Nora Flite:
If you hated your life—wanted to prove to the world that you could change—how would you do it?

I had a plan. I also had no family, no friends, and definitely no jerk of an ex-boyfriend who thought I was boring.
I was tired of being me.
In Vegas, I could be anything.

And then I saw him.
His hungry smile wanted a taste of the new me.
Only a boring person would have said no.

It was reckless to follow a stranger to his bed. Dangerous to take the drink he handed me. I thought the worst regret I'd have would be a hangover, a walk of shame through the hotel.

Except I didn't wake up in the hotel.
Or in Vegas.

I doubt my face will end up in the news. “Woman missing,” the headline would say. “A stupid person who thought she could be someone else.”

I'm not someone else. I was only playing pretend.

Too bad he was playing for keeps.

--Author's Note-- This is a very dark romance novel with themes that could make readers uncomfortable. Be wary, it contains violence and beyond-steamy content aimed at mature audiences.

MY 5 Star Review

If you are a fan of dark erotica, then this is the book for you. I picked up this book this afternoon while sitting by the pool and thought i would get a few chapters in. 3.5 hours later here I am completely sunburned because I was so engrossed in Celeste and Leonide's story that I lost track of time. Putting this book down was just out of the question! It sucked me from the very beginning and I couldn't get enough.

Celeste is a girl who has nothing. No family, no friends, and recently dumped by her boyfriend Jones who claims she is to boring. With the words "you're to boring" rolling around in her head Celeste heads to the local salon for a make over. Walking out of the salon with a completely new look, Celeste heads to Vegas in an effort to prove to herself that she is just the opposite of boring. It is there that a sexy and seductive stranger buys her a drink. Mustering up all of her courage, she heads to thank the man that will forever change the course of her life. She just doesn't know that yet.

Leonide...SWOON. He is dark and dangerous, sexy and alluring. A man who always gets what he wants. His business is what it is, far from legal and just morally wrong. But that doesn't stop him. With Celeste in his possession, he starts with the task at hand. His words and actions at times were cruel and unjust, but at times he showed compassion. He is a complete mind fuck. You never knew what type of reaction to expect from him. And that bothered Celeste just as much as it bothered me. I was so torn over my feelings for him.

I loved that Celeste never gave up in her fight for what she wanted....and that was her freedom to choose. She fought tooth and nail, suffered through the consequences of her actions, but nothing stopped her. I admired that she was so strong willed and determined. Watching Leonide struggle emotionally and physically when it came to Celeste pulled at my heart strings. He wanted her submission. She wanted her freedom. Will the two of them be able to come to an agreement are will both of their actions continue to be ONLY PRETEND?

"I'm not those women. I'm Celeste Barstow... and you're a fucking demon."

This was my first book by Nora Flite and I'm so glad that she offered my an arc in exchange for an honest review because this book is now up there with some of my favorite captive books. Tony and Caleb may have some competition on their hands. I definitely recommend this book to fans of darker reads. The plot is enthralling and the characters are complex and well developed. An easy 5 star read.
